SSD Vs HDD

Most people these days are purchasing laptops more than desktop systems for their computing needs. And they need to make a decision whether they are going to get a Hard Disk Drive, (also known as HDD), or the Solid State Drive (or SSD). Which of these two is considered to be the better choice? Well, as far as this question is concerned, there is no direct or straight-forward type of answer to this question.

More than ever, individuals have their own unique requirements from their laptops, and they can evaluate it through their preferences, needs, and most importantly, budget. Both do the same job, they boot the system, and store applications and personal files. There are several differences between HDD and SSD however, and each has advantages over the other.

What is SSD?

Solid State Drives can be thought of as a more sophisticated version of a USB memory stick as they have no moving parts, and all the information is stored in a microchip. Conversely, the HDD utilizes a mechanical arm with a write/read head that moves which accesses information from the appropriate location on a storage platter. This kind of difference makes this SSD faster than an HDD.

Typically, SSD’s are more about NAND-based type of flash memory, which is primarily a non-volatile, which means that the stored data will remain even when there is no power present. SSD is a newer technology than HDD , During SSD’s early days, rumors put emphasis to the fact that stored data would immediately wear off and can be lost for years. Regardless of such things, rumors are just rumors and these are not true. Due to the enhanced technology of SSD, you can always write and read to your SSD for over time. You’re also given the chance to acquire storing of data’s integrity for more than 200 years. In simpler terms, storage life of data when using SSD can always outlive you.

What is HDD?

HDD or hard disk drive has been around for several years relative to the continuous changes in technology. This makes use of magnetism to completely store all the data in a specific type of rotating platter. A read/write head floats just above the spinning platters of writing and reading data. The quicker the platter spin, the quicker the HDD performance would be.

One of the main benefits of HDD is the fact that it has the ability to store lots of information or data in a cheap manner. In these days, storing of data is not unusual to the hard drive of the laptop and its density continues to grow. However, data cost in every gigabyte can already can be very hard to calculate since there are huge numbers of classes to choose from though it is safe and effective to say that all types of HDD is cheaper when compared to SSD.  So, if you really wanted to have cheap storage processes, then HDD is perfect for you.

As far as HDD and SSD is concerned, well there are lots of differences and similarities you need to consider before finally deciding on what to choose. These two are considered to be Utah’s favorite hence you will never regret choosing any of the two.

What to Know When Buying a Computer

What to Know When Buying a Computer

Having an honest and knowledgeable salesperson can make it much easier to select a computer system that is right for your needs. There are many factors to consider, and a great number of options to choose from. Some factors include type and model of computer, its capabilities necessary to perform the tasks you are seeking, as well as speed, storage capacity, and price.

Below are descriptions of some of the most important options to consider when deciding which system is right for you.

Laptop or Desktop

To make an overall comparison between these two systems, let us assume that both the Laptop and Desktop discussed offer similar specifications, features, and performance capabilities:

Desktop models would be more affordable, and are often far more upgradeable as far as their performance. These upgrades can be made as needed, to better perform the tasks required by its user. For example, memory intensive programs such as animation or gaming software are probably best suited for a desktop system.

Laptop computers are sleeker and take up less space, and can be taken with you to perform anywhere outside the home or office. These convenient features are necessary for some users.

Processor

The Processor acts as the computer’s brain and is the most important component. It receives input and instructions from the computer programs and provides the appropriate output and operations. The capabilities of a Processor can vary, which can determine the speed and efficiency of how well programs run. It is necessary to purchase a system with a processor that can handle the tasks the user needs to perform. Such tasks may include Word Processing, Gaming, Design, Video & Audio Editing, Internet Browsing, etc.

RAM (Commonly known as Memory)

The speed and ability of the computer also depend on its amount of RAM, (Random Access Memory). The more RAM a computer has, the better it can work in conjunction with the processor to accomplish the given tasks rapidly, effectively, and with better performance. Note that the amount of RAM does not determine the amount of Storage Capacity.

Hard Disk Drive or Solid State Drive

The HDD, (commonly known as Hard Disk Drive) or SSD, (Solid State Drive) will determine the storage capacity you’ll have to save Data, such as: Pictures, Documents, Music, Software, and even the Operating System. These devices come in a variety of speed capabilities and storage capacity. Certainly, the Solid State Drive is faster than a Hard Disk Drive, which also will improve the computer performance. This does mean there is a significant difference on prices.

Note that many people refer to the Hard Drive as the Desktop Computer, which is a common error as the HDD is a storage device inside the desktop computer.

Later we will discuss other differences between SSD and HDD.

Operating System

There are many different operating systems and versions of them for computers. Choosing one that suits you best, primarily depends on the kind of operating system that you would be comfortable with. Therefore, it is essential to consider the computer’s operating system and how it runs, before deciding which model to buy.

The operating system, (commonly known as OS), is the interface between the Hardware and the software. Some of the most common operating system are: Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Chrome OS, Unix, etc. Also, there are several factors that you should consider before deciding which OS is right for you.  Such considerations as, Version, Compatibilities, Availability, and Support.

Brand

There are many different brands of computer systems for you to choose from. Select one that has a good reputation, that suits your style and requirements, and that you would certainly enjoy using. Choose a reliable salesperson that can give trustworthy recommendations and expertise to help you make important decisions, or even build a customized system to suit your specific needs.

Pricing

Always choose a reputable dealer with good ratings and online reviews, so that you can be assured that the overall price you pay is legitimate and fair. You can always choose an affordably priced computer that will still deliver on quality, features, and specifications.

Some brands are more expensive than others, and prices can vary for different models with a wide range of capabilities and reliability.

Special deals and On-Sale Pricing can often be found as the Holidays grow near, and reliable used computers can sometimes be found with reputable computer dealers.

Warranties

Warranties can vary significantly, from the manufacturer, any specific computer store’s policies, each individual salesperson, whether the system is new or used, etc. A good warranty at a fair price that makes you feel comfortable with your purchase is recommended, of course.

Be cautious about companies offering lifetime warranties, as they are often known to inflate standard fair prices to compensate for their labor costs & make a quick profit up front.

As far as purchasing computers, you have a lot of options to choose from in the UTAH technology market. You can find the right system to suit your specific needs if you consider the above-mentioned recommendations.
